Terms of Service

Draft · Updated October 10, 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and the operator of Selk (“Selk,” “we,” “us”). They govern your use of the Selk mobile apps, the Selk website and dashboard, and related support (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account, joining a company, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you use the Service for a business, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for that business, and “you” includes that business. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who can use Selk

3. What the Service does — and does not do

Selk helps you run a job from New Job → Estimate → Schedule → Invoice → Paid. It can store clients, price books, job notes and photos, van stock counts, worker assignments, clock-in and clock-out times, hours and gross pay totals, and support messages. It can create estimate and invoice PDFs that you send from your own device.

Selk is an administrative tool only. Selk does not perform any work, is not a party to any agreement between you and your customers or workers, does not guarantee any job, price, payment, or result, and does not provide accounting, tax, legal, licensing, insurance, safety, payroll, or employment advice.

4. Accounts and security

5. Roles: contractors, solo operators, and workers

Contractor and solo accounts own their company’s data in the Service, including clients, jobs, estimates, invoices, photos, price book, van stock, and team records.

Worker accounts are free and are linked to a company by the contractor. Workers see only the jobs assigned to them (without prices) and their own hours and pay totals. When a worker is removed from a company, they lose access to that company’s information; the company keeps its records, including the worker’s past hours.

6. Plans, free trial, and billing

Current plans: Solo — $30.00/month (one owner, no worker seats); Contractor — $50.00/month (up to 5 workers); Contractor 10 — $100.00/month (up to 10 workers). Worker accounts are free. Prices are in US dollars and may not include taxes the store adds.

7. Payments between you and your customers

Selk does not process payments between contractors and their customers. You and your customers arrange payment outside Selk (for example cash, check, Zelle, or bank transfer). Marking an invoice “Paid” is a record you enter; it is not proof that funds were received or cleared. Bank or Zelle details you add to your profile are printed on your invoices exactly as you entered them — check them carefully. You are responsible for your prices, invoices, refunds, collections, and any sales tax you charge or owe.

8. Estimates, invoices, tax, hours, and pay

You are responsible for reviewing every estimate, price, tax amount, due date, invoice, schedule, time record, hourly rate, and pay total before relying on it or sharing it. Tax settings in Selk (a rate on the whole job, on materials only, or a fixed amount) are tools you choose — Selk does not decide whether tax applies. Time records can be edited by workers and contractors and are marked as edited. Selk shows hours and gross amounts only; it does not determine whether a worker is an employee or an independent contractor, withhold taxes, run payroll, or file any return. Talk to your accountant or attorney about those questions.

9. Your content

“Your content” means the information you or your team put into Selk, such as client details, job notes, photos, prices, documents, and messages. You keep ownership of your content.

You give us a limited license to host, store, copy, process, transmit, and display your content only as needed to run, secure, support, and improve the Service for you. You confirm you have the rights and permissions needed to upload your content, including any notice or consent your customers or workers are owed (for example before photographing a customer’s property or entering a worker’s pay rate).

10. Acceptable use

11. Third-party services

Selk relies on third parties, such as Apple and Google (app stores and billing), our hosting and database provider, our subscription manager, Apple Weather (forecasts), and the maps, messaging, mail, and sharing apps on your phone. Their services are governed by their own terms. Weather forecasts are for convenience only and may be inaccurate.

12. Availability, offline use, and changes

We work to keep Selk available and your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. Some features work offline and sync when you reconnect; changes made on more than one device while offline may conflict. Keep any records the law requires you to keep. We may add, change, or remove features; if we remove a core paid feature, we will give reasonable notice.

13. Cancelling and deleting your account

You can stop using Selk at any time. Cancel your subscription in your store account to stop renewals. You can delete your account in Settings → Delete account. Deleting a contractor or solo account permanently deletes the company and its clients, jobs, estimates, invoices, photos, and team links. Deletion cannot be undone. We may keep limited records where required by law, for security, or to resolve disputes. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription — cancel that in your App Store or Google Play account too. We may suspend or end access for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms.

14. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. Selk is not responsible for job-site injuries, the quality of any work, missed appointments, pricing mistakes, payment disputes, tax, wage, or employment consequences, or decisions made using information entered in the Service.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Selk will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Selk’s total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

16. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold Selk harmless from claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your work, your dealings with your customers or workers, or your breach of these Terms or the law.

17. Disputes and governing law

Please contact us first — most problems can be solved quickly. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that is not resolved informally within 30 days will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, unless a small-claims court has jurisdiction. Nothing here limits rights you have under laws that cannot be waived.

18. Apple App Store terms

If you downloaded Selk from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and Selk, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any product claims, intellectual-property claims, or legal compliance. If the app fails to meet a warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if any); Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Using Selk after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel your subscription.

20. Contact
