FAQ

Questions about Selk

What is Selk?

Selk is a job-management app for small contractors and trade crews of 1–10. It runs the whole job — new job, estimate, schedule, crew, invoice, payment — from your phone.

Who is Selk built for?

Selk is built for small contractors in the trades — electricians, plumbers, HVAC, handymen, painters, landscapers, remodelers, cleaners and other small crews of 1 to 10 people (70+ trades and home services).

How much does Selk cost?

Selk costs $29/month for Solo, $79/month for Contractor (owner plus up to 5 workers), and $129/month for Contractor 10 (owner plus up to 10 workers). The first 100 companies lock in founding prices of $19, $49 and $89 per month for as long as they stay subscribed.

Are there extra fees or paid add-ons?

No. Every feature is in every plan — QuickBooks sync, card payments, the booking page, smart arrival alerts, van stock, six languages and everything else. Plans only differ by how many workers you have. The price you see is the whole price. (Card payments carry Stripe’s normal processing fee; Selk adds nothing.)

Do workers pay for Selk?

No. Workers are always free on every Selk plan. There are no per-seat fees, and the worker app is separate from the contractor app.

What do workers see in Selk?

Each worker sees only their own assignments, the job address and notes, their hours and their pay. Workers never see prices, estimates, or another worker’s data.

Can I see when my workers get to the job?

Yes. Smart arrival alerts send you a notification with the time when a worker reaches the job address. There is no live map of the drive — just the moment they arrive. Arriving never clocks anyone in; workers clock in and out from the app.

Which languages does Selk speak?

Selk is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese and Haitian Creole. Each person picks their own.

Does Selk work offline?

Yes. Selk keeps working on the job site without signal — clock in and out, today’s jobs and your changes are saved on the phone and sync automatically when the connection returns.

How do customers pay?

Customers approve estimates with a tap and pay invoices by card through Stripe, straight to the contractor’s own bank account. Selk takes 0% of payments (Stripe charges its normal processing fee). Contractors can also record cash, Zelle and transfer payments, including partial payments and deposits.

Does Selk sync with QuickBooks?

Yes. Selk syncs customers, invoices, payments and job expenses with QuickBooks Online.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — 14 days free, no credit card required.

Is Selk on iPhone and Android?

Selk is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. The iPhone version is in testing now.

Who built Selk?

Selk was built by a working electrician in Houston, Texas, for the way small trade crews actually work — and because the big apps cost too much and did too much.

Will Selk help me find new customers?

That is our plan for the next phase: once enough contractors run their business on Selk, we plan to open it to homeowners, so the same app that runs your jobs will also bring you new ones. It isn’t available yet. Today every company already gets its own booking page and QR code for customers to request work.

How is Selk different from big field-service apps?

Selk is made for crews of 1–10: one simple path from new job to paid, a flat price with workers included instead of per-user fees, every feature in every plan, and a free worker app. No setup calls, no contracts.

Still have a question? Try it free.

14 days free. Workers always free. No contract.
